I started with a base of OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons because its such a perfect opaque nude to use as a base for any nail art. After that, I placed the glitter individually using a toothpick after I painted some stripes of topcoat to hold the glitter. Whenever I do loose glitter placement I like to use Essie No Chips Ahead, mostly because it takes forever to dry and has a long tacky stage. I used to use it to finish my manicures because it really does resist chipping very well, but it took so long to dry that I would get impatient. Using it for glitters is actually pretty perfect! Plus it gives me a long window of time to work with the glitters because I was definitely struggling.
I really loved the way this came out! The stripes on my right hand were a little wonky but thats what happens when I have to place tiny glitters with my left hand! After the glitters were set, I did one coat of Gelous to smooth things over then I finished it all off with China Glaze Fast Forward.
I still want to try placing glitter all over the whole nail sometime! It looks so sweet...maybe I need to get some slightly bigger glitters first.
Happy new year Kate! I love those tiny glitters!
